Navajo County Medical Reserve Corps: Training

The Navajo County Medical Reserve Corps trains its volunteers to be able to work in a variety of emergencies.  We offer on-line training, class room training, drills, and exercises.

One of the lessons learned from the terrorist attacks on 9/11 was that there was a need to train first responders, medical personnel, local and governmental agencies, and volunteers to communicate more effectively, work with each other, and work in the same Incident Management System structure. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) created the Emergency Management Institute to acccomplish this task. There are three courses that every volunteer is required to complete.  They are:

IS - 100a  Introduction to the Incident Command System
IS - 200a  ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents
IS - 700    National Incident Management System and Introduction

To take these classes go to http://www.training.fema.gov/

Once you have completed these three on-line courses you will receive an e-confirmation. Please send John Zimmerman a copy of this e-confirmation by forwarding it on to john.zimmerman@navajocountyaz.gov

This training is a federal requirement.
